About "Ravensbourne"

Interpreted literally, Ravensbourne might be the name of a stream or brook. Or it might be interpreted as a Raven's territorial boundary or destination. In England, there is a stream by that very name, a tributary of the River Thames. It's also been used as a place name in England, New Zealand and Australia. This web site gains its name specifically from Ravensbourne National Park in Queensland Australia1. That Ravensbourne is known for its wide variety of animal and bird species.

Ravens, themselves have been considered special in early mythology, associated with good and bad, but always considered wise and creative. In some myths of native peoples, the Raven creates the world, first in perfection, and then introduces imperfections to amuse himself.2 In that story, man is one of those imperfections. The creations herein have their own imperfections to amuse the Raven.
